Risk Layered is an independent risk management advisory practice. We work with boards, leadership teams, and practitioners who need clear-eyed, practical risk advice  not a framework to put on a shelf.

We were built on a simple observation: most organisations already understand their risks better than they think. The problem is rarely a lack of knowledge. It’s a lack of structure, clarity, and the confidence to act on what they already know.

Remote-First Global Practice

We operate as a fully remote, independent advisory practice. Based in New Zealand, we partner with boards, leadership teams, and risk practitioners across APAC, the EU, and beyond delivering value through virtual collaboration without compromising quality or depth.

  • Geography agnostic: we serve clients worldwide via secure video, cloud collaboration, and asynchronous delivery
  • Time-zone flexible: sessions scheduled around APAC and EU working hours
  • Senior practitioner direct: you work with me throughout, not handed to juniors

We price for the cost of inaction and risk avoided not for time spent. Our engagement terms are clear, scope is defined upfront, and we exit deliberately to preserve authority and value yours and ours.

We are not a large firm. You work directly with a senior practitioner throughout not handed off to a junior after the first meeting.

Our Approach to Risk

Risk management is often treated as a compliance or assurance exercise. We treat it as what it actually is: a discipline for making better decisions under uncertainty.

Our thinking is grounded in established frameworks such as ISO 31000, COSO IC, COSO ERM, the Three Lines of Defence, applied with the pragmatism that only comes from having used them in real organisations under real pressure.

We do not sell software, certifications, or pre-built templates as the primary output. Where tools and templates serve the engagement, we build or provide them. Where a conversation and a clear direction serve better, we do that instead.

Risk Layered also publishes practitioner grade content on YouTube aimed at decision makers who want to understand risk management without wading through corporate training material.

The channel covers frameworks, case studies, and practical tools for risk practitioners, department heads, CEOs, business owners, and boards. Content is based on real experience, not textbook theory.
